Volunteer Spotlight

I first met Jan Lupia at a Christian conference weekend in Laguna Beach in 2013 and was immediately drawn to her story and her fledgling non-profit, HEARTbeat at 22 and MAMA’S HOUSE, which was just getting off the ground in Palm Desert where I live.  At that moment, I knew I was meant to come alongside Mama’s House and serve. At that time, I was working full-time at a Minneapolis, MN law firm as Chief Operating Officer where I had been for the past 30+ years, so i wasn’t sure how that would happen.

However, in God’s time we came together in 2015 when I received a letter in the mail from Jan Lupia to join the Mama Mia’s Guild in support of MAMA’S HOUSE. I am now the Chief Executive Officer of my own nonprofit, Wings For Nonprofits, where I choose other Christian non-profits to serve, and I chose to join the Guild and begin volunteering at MAMA’S HOUSE.  My education from the University of Minnesota in Business Law and Business Management together with my work experience in the legal profession have been a perfect fit in supporting the operations and business development of MAMA’S HOUSE in whatever capacity it needs from day to day.   Currently, I am serving on the Board of Directors of this worthy organization. It has been a blessing in my life and a gift to discover this God-breathed ministry and to continue to serve in any way I can.

Reflecting back on my time with Mama's House, one of the best experiences was being able to furnish and decorate the Hope Center. This was so much fun as I knew that many people would get to enjoy this special space. The Hope Center is full of peace and beauty, and my hope is that all who enter can feel God's love through this ministry.
